Taking KYVE’s Testnet, Kaon, To The Next Level, Introducing: Testnet Faucets, Free Storage, &…

Kaon’s launchat the start of this year was an initiative to maintain an — as close to mainnet — replica as possible to ensure a steady testing round before and at the start of KYVE’s launch.

Kaon’s launch

With mainnet launch successful and the network live and thriving, it’s time to enhance Kaon’s overall user experience and accessibility to open it up as an official testnet for our validator network and upcoming features and tooling! To make this happen, our team recently added two testnet token faucets and a free custom storage provider.

Let’s get into the details…

New Faucet Opens Kaon to the Public

In order to participate in ourtestnet network, you need testnet tokens, just like how you need real $KYVE to participate on mainnet. We’re excited to introducetwo faucets on Kaon, enabling anyone to claim the testnet tokens they need to test out the network. The two faucets include:

Please note:KYVE testnet tokens donothave real monetary value and cannot be traded for real $KYVE. This testnet token is for testing purposes only. The set amounts allow users to test all the features and are enough to not run out of gas.

It’s in our validators’ best interest to test out new upgrades and features on Kaon before doing so on mainnet to avoid unnecessary slashes and risks for our data users. It’s thanks to our validators that the data run through KYVE is made trustless for all, so we need to make sure they’re as prepared as possible.

Providing claimable testnet tokens is also useful forKYVE’s new Beta Testers Program, an initiative to thoroughly test upcoming KYVE tools and features by dedicated users. Phase 1 of beta testing is already live (ending October 23rd), putting our KSYNC/State-Sync tool for validators to the test on Kaon.Interested in taking part in testing the future of KYVE?Apply to become a KYVE beta tester today.

The Ideal Test Environment

As a key player in the data space, KYVE is constantly developing new data tooling and features to aid node runners, developers, data analysts, and more. For node runners, and even our own validators, we have already come up withKYSOR,KSYNC, andSupervysor. Each empowers validators and users alike to either optimize their experience on our network, sync with other blockchain networks archived and validated through KYVE in under two minutes, and or streamline their operations and overall node management. And we’re not stopping there!

KYSOR

KSYNC

Supervysor

Each of these tools, especially KSYNC and Supervysor, holds significant potential for further development and solving more data-related roadblocks. Kaon provides an ideal platform for our validators and beta testers to put these tools to the test, contributing valuable feedback to help our team develop the most effective solutions for the future.

Lastly, to further enhance the Kaon experience, KYVE’s Development Team has created a custom storage solution (dubbed: KYVE Storage Provider) for testnet data pools, enabling validators to take part in testnet pools for free, contrary to mainnet which uploads data onto storage solutions like Arweave.

Looking Forward

KYVE is constantly growing and evolving to bring positive innovation to the Web3 data space and better its own network. This is just the start of many initiatives to improve our official testnet environment and the KYVE experience as a whole.

With an efficient, free, and accessible testnet like Kaon, our validators can confidently test new features, upgrades, and data pools, avoiding unnecessary risks or slashes. This not only ensures a smoother transition to the mainnet but also fosters a secure and reliable environment for our data users.

About KYVE

KYVE, the Web3 data lake solution, is a protocol that enables data providers to standardize, validate, and permanently store blockchain data streams. By leveraging permanent data storage solutions like Arweave, KYVE’s Cosmos SDK chain creates permanent backups and ensures the scalability, immutability, and availability of these resources over time.

KYVE

KYVE is backed by blockchains and foundations such as Arweave, Ava Labs, Solana Foundation, Interchain, Moonbeam, TheGraph Edge, Parity Foundation, Celo/Composable Finance, Zilliqa, Octopus, Mina Foundation, Aurora, and NEAR Foundation.
