Install supervysor in one command.
For KYVE to thrive, it’s imperative that its protocol validators have the best possible resources and tooling. A healthy validator network not only ensures continuous data validation but is also vital for the protocol’s security and its decentralized nature.
To validate data on KYVE in a decentralized way, validators must operate archival nodes on the sourced chains, which demands substantial storage and additional resources. While large validators might find this feasible, as they utilize their archival nodes for various solutions, others may not require such extensive data and could benefit from a more streamlined setup to reduce costs. In support of this, KYVE released supervysor.
With the goal of streamlining the chain syncing process, supervysorensures validators’ nodes are in sync with the network’s data pool and eliminating any data that’s already been archived to lower storage needs. This tool drastically cuts down on the resources and expenses tied to validator operations, showcasing KYVE’s commitment to boosting network sustainability and efficiency for its network participants.
With over 25% of all KYVE protocol validators already using supervysor across various data pools, the tool is making significant strides in supporting the network. But there’s room to push supervysor even further. Enter version 2…
Supervisor V2: Enhanced Pruning & Scalability
The first iteration of supervysor only supported block pruning, which is helpful but doesn’t eliminate all the unnecessary data possible, since data is also commonly stored in a chain’s state.
Therefore, v2 introduces state pruning, fully optimizing the pruning mechanism as a whole and ensuring that protocol validators really don’t have to deal with any extra unneeded data.
On top of this, v2 includes configuration optimization for a better processing manager and improved usability, overall boosting a validator’s scalability when participating in a data pool.

Throughout KYVE’s continuous development and expansion, supervysor updates and other impactful resources and tooling will be brought forward to continue supporting a healthy network.
As further detailed by Christopher, a core KYVE developer, “supervysor’s primary purpose is to enhance the efficiency of the KYVE validation process, with a particular focus on optimizing storage requirements for all protocol validators. As KYVE moves forward, the goal for supervysor is to continue supporting various node types essential for a KYVE data pool while enhancing overall efficiency.”
Together, we’re building the biggest trustless data hub, backing up Web3’s history for all. Thanks for running on KYVE and taking part in this mission!
