KYVE Launches First Mainnet Data Pool: Cosmos Hub, Activating Its Protocol Layer

Just last week, KYVE governance proposal #5 passed, enacting the creation of theCosmos Hub data poolon our mainnet network. Now, with the necessary active validator slots filled, and the minimum stake amount reached, the pool has officially begun archiving and validating Cosmos Hub data!

Cosmos Hub data pool

We’re thrilled to see this first mainnet data pool in action, officially kickstarting KYVE’s protocol layer and pool economics.

Being a Layer 1 blockchain built with the Cosmos SDK and a large supporter of interchain development, having the first data pool be Cosmos Hub was an easy decision for our team. Now live, the pool provides truly trustless Cosmos Hub data to interchain builders, validators, and other participants.

Easing the Data Experience for Node Runners, Developers, Data Analysis, and More

Helping nodes and validators access historical blockchain data more easily has been a key priority for KYVE since Day 1.

With inspiration fromChorus One, the KYVE Team developedKSYNC, a data syncing tool that helps nodes retrieve the necessary data from KYVE and directly feed the blocks into every application in order to sync blocks and more easily join the network. With this new data pool, nodes can do exactly that, easily joining Cosmos.

Archiving and validating the Cosmos Hub blockchain in a decentralized way also provides more secure data analysis opportunities for those building dashboards around interchain data. This data pool will also be very helpful for interchain hackathons, grant programs, and other developmental events or projects that require a reliable source of trustless Cosmos data.

Please note that in order for KYVE to properly archive and validate the entire Cosmos Hub chain, it can take up to 6–8 weeks. Use cases requiring the entire blockchain history will have to wait a bit longer before getting started. You can always run tests on ourtestnet data poolif needed.

Data Pool Details and Parameters

For context, KYVE’s protocol layer is made up of data pools, each revolving around a specific data set, with protocol validators archiving and validating that data. Every pool is set to have 50 open protocol validator slots, providing those who behave correctly with ample rewards for their hard work in bringing forward trustless data.

In April 2023, KYVE’s Core Team proposed viagovernance channelsthat the first data pool be Cosmos Hub. After a brief discussion period, the proposal went up for voting to create the pool on our testnet, Kaon.

governance channels

Following consistent testing and observation, the Cosmos Hub pool proved to be a success on testnet and a smooth experience for our protocol layer and participants. This testing period also allowed our team to finetune the pool parameters and funding before proposing to create the pool on mainnet.

Pool parameters include reducing the minimum delegation limit to allow enough protocol validators to participate as soon as possible and activating the pool’s archiving and validation process. Data is stored via Bundlr, the world’s data layer providing an instant finality layer for Arweave. This allows the transaction speeds from KYVE to Arweave to be significantly scaled up, enhancing the user experience.

Pool FundingKYVE’s data pools run on the native $KYVE token, with up to 50 funders per pool providing the token-economic incentives to reward well-behaving validators.

As an active supporter of KYVE’s development and decentralization, theKYVE Foundationdecided to fund this first data pool, putting in place standard pool parameters and funding amounts to push ecosystem growth. It’s important to note that funding a pool does not result in any monetary gain. Those who fund pools enable the network to make the requested data trustless.

How to Take Part In KYVE’s First Data Pool

Anyone with $KYVE can participate in the data pool. At the moment, the token is not yet listed; therefore, only those who have $KYVE from the KYVE Validator Delegation Program, other Incentivized Testnet rewards, or previous funding rounds can participate.

Is this the case for you, but you’re not sure how to join in? Check ourdocsto find the requirements and best practices on how to spin up a KYVE protocol validator. If there are open slots in theCosmos Hub data pool, you’ll be able to join immediately. If there are no slots available, this means your stake is not high enough yet to join.

Be sure to check your eligibility for theKYVE Validator Delegation Program, which rewards the top-ranking validators from our Incentivized Testnet with the opportunity of mainnet delegation to boost their stake. A few election spots are still open for this first data pool, be sure toapplybefore it’s too late!

Not eligible for the delegation program, but you already have $KYVE? You can still participate in the network by delegating your tokens to active members. When participating in this data pool, not only are you helping further secure the KYVE network, you’re taking part in opening up a wide range of impactful trustless data use cases for the interchain ecosystem.

What’s Up Next

We have exciting plans for this data pool and look forward to seeing its use cases grow, aiding the overall development of the interchain and its participants. Our team is already looking into the next data pools to launch on mainnet! Be sure to keep an eye out on KYVEgovernance discussionsto see the next suggested pools.

Those who have $KYVE can already spin up their protocol validator and try tojoin in. As soon as our token is listed, anyone with $KYVE will be able to take part. Whether that’s running a protocol validator ordelegating, your participation helps make trustless data a public good.

More About KYVE

KYVE Networkis revolutionizing customized access to on- and off-chain data by providing fast and easy tooling for decentralized data validation, immutability, and retrieval. Its data lake archives and validates data in a decentralized way, making trustless data easily accessible via solutions like KYVE’s Data Pipeline.

KYVE Network

The network is powered by decentralized uploaders and validators funded by $KYVE tokens and aims to operate as a DAO following our mainnet launch. This past year KYVE has gained significant support, currently backed by top VCs, including Hypersphere Ventures, Coinbase Ventures, Distributed Global, Mechanism Capital, CMS Holdings, IOSG Ventures, and blockchains such as Arweave, Avalanche, Solana, Interchain, and NEAR.
