This month, KYVE entered into the Polkadot ecosystem, launching integrations with both Polkadot and Kusama. Little do some people know, this is a major step for our team, coming full circle with our origin story.
In early 2021, KYVE’s founders Fabian Riewe and John Letey came together to participate in a bounty to bridge Polkadot data to Arweave, a permanent data storage solution. After creating a valid solution, and with the help of Arweave’s founder, Sam Williams, they realized that if their solution was to be more decentralized, it could apply to other blockchains and, in turn, aid valid data accessibility for all. After a year of iteration, development, and implementation, enter KYVE.
Let’s read into why these recent integrations are a great step forward for data accessibility in the Polkadot ecosystem.
ArKYVEing on Polkadot
Polkadotis a sharded layer-0 protocol that enables different blockchains to operate together seamlessly. It does this through secure cross-chain composability, open governance, on-chain treasuries, and more! In other words, Polkadot facilitates an internet where independent blockchains can exchange information and transactions in a trustless way via the Polkadot Relay Chain.
Today, there are over 450 projects in the Polkadot ecosystem, all requiring direct access to Polkadot’s data. Now that this integration is live, it enables developers to have more streamlined access to reliable, on-chain data, leveraging Polkadot and KYVE’s combined ecosystems for more efficient building. Projects requiring this data, or users interested in participating by running a node, can visit KYVE’sPolkadot data pooltoday to get started.
Scaling with Kusama
Kusamais a scalable network of multiple specialized blockchains built using Substrate. It provides an experimental development environment for teams who want to move fast and innovate exclusively on Kusama or prepare for deployment on Polkadot.
When it comes to launching blockchains on Kusama, the focus is on quick and secure building, which necessitates easy access to valid data. With KYVE now integrated, Kusama’s on-chain data will be permanently stored in a reliable and verified manner. This provides developers and other ecosystem participants with easier access to the data they need, as well as the assurance that the data is completely accurate. Looking Forward
The demand for accurate, easy-to-access on-chain data is ever-growing in the Polkadot ecosystem. With KYVE’s mission to provide reliable data to all developers and ecosystem participants, the launch of these Polkadot and Kusama pools is a significant step forward in the world of valid data accessibility!
We’re excited to continue collaborating with the Polkadot ecosystem, expanding our Web3 data lake, and bringing on new KYVE protocol use cases. Take part in archiving and validating Polkadot and Kusama’s data today by visiting theKYVE app.
About KYVE
KYVE, the web3 data lake solution, is a protocol that enables data providers to standardize, validate, and permanently store blockchain data streams. By leveraging permanent data storage solutions like Arweave, KYVE’s Cosmos SDK chain creates permanent backups and ensures the scalability, immutability, and availability of these resources over time. KYVE’s network is powered by decentralized uploaders and validators funded by $KYVE tokens and aims to operate as a DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) in the near future. This past year KYVE has gained major support, currently backed by top VCs, including Hypersphere Ventures, Coinbase Ventures, Mechanism Capital, CMS Holdings, and blockchains such as Arweave, Avalanche, Solana, Interchain, and NEAR.

More on Polkadot and Kusama
Polkadotis a layer-0 protocol and multichain network founded by Dr. Gavin Wood, co-founder and former CTO of Ethereum. Polkadot provides security, scalability, and interoperability to a diverse network of layer-1 blockchains called parachains. Polkadot offers several advancements over legacy blockchain networks, from runtime customization to open governance, seamless upgradeability, energy efficiency, cross-chain composability, and more.
Kusama is a scalable network of multiple specialized blockchains built using Substrate and nearly the same codebase as Polkadot. The network is an experimental development environment for teams who want to move fast and innovate exclusively on Kusama, or prepare for deployment on Polkadot.
