Korea Blockchain Week & Token2049 Recap: KYVE’s First Hackathon, Speaking at Arweave Day In Asia, & More

KYVE’s time during Korea Blockchain Week and Token2049 this year was nothing but a success! It was our first time attending conferences and events in Asia, providing a great opportunity to grow our presence and connections in the Asian market. Plus, with this year being so dev-focused, it was the perfect opportunity to sponsor our first hackathon and connect further with the builder community.

From the Interchain Hackathon to Arweave Day in Asia, Cosmocon, and more, read on to get all the details of how KYVE’s Asia tour went

Korea Blockchain Week

The Interchain HackathonBeing a Cosmos-based chain, KYVE was thrilled to co-sponsor this year’s Interchain Hackathon in Seoul alongside Chainapsis, the Interchain Foundation, Celestia, Keplr, Osmosis, Argus, Radius, and Wonderstruck.

Now that mainnet is live with a few data pools synced and ready to use, this was the perfect opportunity to promote building with KYVE and inspire more decentralized solutions for the interchain ecosystem.

Congratulations to Clara and Heesung for their creation of VBase, the Decentralized Proposal Review Submission and Storage Platform for Interchain Validators. This game-changing solution for validators not only won our bounty but won first overall from the hackathon’s judge feedback!

What is VBase about? Clara and Heesung found that validators often rely on centralized platforms like Keplr to interact with their delegators for proposal votes and submissions. However, this risks data loss and other retrieval issues.

To provide the interchain ecosystem with a fully decentralized way of implementing these important governance interactions, VBase leverages KYVE to validate and store the data onto Arweave, keeping track of the data and bringing further decentralization to the governance process. We look forward to seeing VBase’s growth!

During the hackathon, KYVE’s Founder, Fabian, conducted an insightful workshop on harnessing KYVE’s trustless data for building innovative interchain use cases, offering valuable developer resources, and encouraging brainstorming sessions.

KYVE’s Head of Ecosystem, Paul Bramas, also gave a talk at the Interchain Hacker House to go more into depth on the concept of KYVE and the importance of trustless data.

Korea Blockchain Week & Side Events
The Korea Blockchain Week conference itself was a great experience for our team. We sat in on many talks and panels, explored the different booths and were able to spark impactful connections with fellow builders. We also went around the city, visiting side events such as a41’s Builders Hub, DSRV’s Builder House, Polymer Lab’s xDapp Developer Day, and more. This year was definitely very dev-focused; we loved to see it!

Paul was also interviewed by one of KYVE’s validators and wallet and dashboard providers, Cosmostation, on how KYVE impacts the Web3 data space. (Video replay coming soon!)

Token2049 Week in Singapore

Following KBW, our journey continued at Token2049 Week in Singapore, where our team took part in multiple ecosystem events and developer get-togethers.

Arweave Day in Asia
With KYVE validating and archiving different blockchains’ historical data in a decentralized way, it’s crucial that we leverage an immutable, decentralized storage provider to store this data. Arweave is the perfect fit for this data use case. Being strong Arweave supporters from the start, we’re thrilled to join this year’s event as ecosystem partners!

Our Head of Ecosystem, Paul, took part in a panel discussion about Arweave databases, going into depth on how KYVE can be used for a wide variety of data use cases, but at the moment, mainly focusing on solving the industry roadblock of archival nodes and loss of truly valid historical data. Along with why leveraging Arweave is important for KYVE and this particular use case.

Cosmocon
Being a Layer 1 blockchain built with the Cosmos SDK, we’re always looking for opportunities to further support and collaborate with the Cosmos ecosystem. Therefore, we were happy to take part in this year’s Cosmocon, a Cosmos ecosystem get-together in Singapore with featured talks from key Cosmos players and great discussions around the future of interchain.

As KYVE brings on more and more data pools supporting different cosmos chains, our presence in the ecosystem is growing stronger, with Sunny, Founder of Osmosis, for example, mentioning KYVE during his panel talk at Cosmocon.

Taking on Token2049 & its side events:
Token2049 was another great conference for building more connections in the different ecosystems. Seeing that KYVE is storage and data agnostic, meaning it can store any type of deterministic data on any storage platform, we are always looking to help any developer we can with our trustless data solutions. By attending these different conferences, we’re able to make more of these important connections and help push more recognition around the importance of using KYVE.

Throughout our team’s week in Singapore, they also attended side events such as KYVE investor IOSG’s Old Friends Reunion event. This time around, the event was focused on the heart of the crypto revolution with the luminaries, pioneers, and vanguards of the decentralized world.

We also attended Chain Catcher’s decentralized data event, Infracon and Growthon by Polygon, dYdX’s Asia Powerhouse event, and much more!

Final Thoughts

Overall, our first tour of conferences and events in Asia was a huge success! It was amazing getting to connect further with fellow partners, developers, and ecosystem participants on this side of the world. We can’t wait for the next round of events.

The Web3 space is not slowing down; on the contrary, it’s just getting started! KYVE is here and ready to support everyone with the truly trustless data infrastructure needed to ensure a scalable, secure future. Join KYVE in our mission to make data a trustless public good.
